Artist Painter

Trained at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs, she went on to do a double master's degree in visual arts and art history at the Université Marc Bloch in Strasbourg. After several years of teaching, she decided to make her artistic practice official.

For as long as she can remember, Laetitia de Welfes has been drawn to the harmony of a place, the beauty of a canvas, the delicacy of an object, the balance of a building and the evidence of a ray of sunlight on a landscape. The elegance of the visual, the joy of contemplating what is beautiful, what makes art possible.

As an art historian, she is clearly inspired by the essentialist dimension of Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Cocteau. Ancient figures are also part of the artist's imagination, and she recreates them through the prism of her memories of Italy. She draws on her formal and chromatic repertoire to create a sensitive, poetic universe in each work that echoes her childhood memories and emotions, and questions the relationships between people.
